This is my entry for "Your Own Winter Wonderland Contest" [link]
This pictures me and my two dogs running in the snow in early dawn. I absolutely love running on wooded trails with my dogs just as the sun is rising... it is amazing and breath taking. I wish it could last forever. It makes me feel ... enlightened. The stars above, the earth below, my heart, breath and feet going in rhythm; it is harmony. And the smiling faces of my dogs make it all the better. The crisp air wakes you up and the rising sun keeps you awake. It is my heaven. I feel less human at this time of day than just part of nature itself. And then when I get home I can take a nice warm shower and snuggle up to a good book the rest of the day (or go back out to the trails to cross country ski XD)
The black dog is my dog, Speedy. We believe that she is a boarder collie lab mix. I love her dearly
The yellow/white dog is Buddy. We think that he is a shepherd lab mix. He is blind, despite being only two years old, but he manages to run off his leash by my dirrections very well.
Both are resuced dogs
And if you haven't guessed, the girl running is me. It was horrible doing a self portrait because I hate the way I look XD and anywhoo, my running clothes aren't that coordinated.
This was painted with pastels and water color with a Wacom tablet on Correl Painter Essentials 2. It took are REALLY long time ... I think over 10 hours. I referenced photos that I took of my dogs and I, and a road that is up the street from my house. I took two different kinds of pine pictures to reference for my drawing.
