It was dark in the lighthouse room,
and flies covered the windows,
frantically buzzing,
trying to escape,
from what?
I wonder.

It was grey and dark outside,
despite the time of day,
rain threatening,
trying to cry,
about what?
I wonder.

It was eery and still throughout,
and I sat there in the dark,
listening for some sound,
but silence was absolute,
am I deaf?
I wonder.

It was then that the light was extinguished,
and the silence broken with a scream,
as the horror consumed me,
the unknown,
what is it?
I wonder.

The flies drop dead.
