This is my entry for the Myth contest: [link]
I live in the Great Lakes area (Michigan, USA) and I decided to do a myth / legend that was close to home. Here I have illustrated two myths from Lake Michigan.
The Bear shows the myth of the Sleepy Bear Dunes. It is said that a brown mother bear lied down in Lake Michigan while waiting for her lost cubs to show up, and she waited so long that she became the sand dune. To hear the full story, you can go here: [link]
The Turtle in the picture shows the myth of Mackinac Island in lake Huron. It is said that when the world was new, and there was only water, the Turtle put a piece of mud on his back and became the Island of Mackinac that is still there today. To hear the full story, you can go here: [link]
Best of Wishes from the Great Lakes!
